Sítio Boa Vista is part of Fazendas Dutra, which represent much more than just production of high-quality regenerative organic coffees. Fazendas Dutra is a family farm business that began growing coffee in the mountains of the Matas de Minas region in the 1950s. It is a group of small farms run by the Dutra family. Nowadays, Fazendas Dutra is specialized in growing regenerative organic coffees. The coffees are a family legacy built over the generations, with deep roots in the tradition and passion for cultivation. Currently, the farm is under the administration of the third generation of the Dutra family, with the fourth generation already beginning its journey in the world of coffee. This familial continuity guarantees the preservation of the values and knowledge transmitted from father to son, ensuring the authenticity and quality of the products.
Women play a key role in all stages of production at Fazendas Dutra. Osvaldina Alves Dutra, the matriarch of the family, is an inspiring example of a coffee producer, with vast experience and knowledge about growing high-quality organic coffees. Her granddaughters, Victoria and Maria Clara, represent the fourth generation and bring an innovative vision with them and keep a close eye on market trends. Victoria Dutra, 24, with her experience in marketing, contributes to promoting the brand and building a strong, positive image of Fazendas Dutra. Maria Clara, 18, with her organizational and administrative skills, helps run the company’s internal processes.
The organic Geisha coffee participating in COE 2024 is the result of a meticulous process beginning with organic plating, in which the soil is naturally nourished, and the plants are grown in the mountains. The harvest was done by hand, selecting only the ripe fruits. Next, the coffee underwent wet process pulping, in which the pulp is removed from the coffee beans. Drying was done under the sun on African beds, with care taken to preserve the natural quality of the beans. This sequence of processes, together with the quality of the Geisha variety, resulted in a coffee with an exceptional flavor, that has won over the most demanding palates. Attention to details at each stage of production, from growing to drying, ensures the excellence of Fazendas Dutra’s organic Geisha coffees.
Fazendas Dutras is an example of successful family agriculture, combining tradition and innovation. The Dutra family believes that agriculture should be an activity that respects the environment and promotes social well-being. Thus, the farm adopts organic, regenerative and sustainable practices in the entire production process. The coffees are certified in Brazil and internationally with the following certifications:
