Sítio São Pedro grown the family tradition in its fields, being currently run by the second and third generations of the family.
Letícia Brás is following in the footsteps of her father, Tote, a pioneering coffee producer in the Canastra Mountains region (Center-West of Minas Gerais).
Without a doubt, blood heritage guides her steps in perpetuating her father’s legacy in the fields and she walks side by side with her son, Pedro Brás.
Nowadays, together they produce specialty and exotic coffees in the fields of the Canastra Mountains in the cities of Piumhi and Vargem Bonita.
There are 8 productive hectares at Sítio São Pedro, growing the Red Catuaí, Geisha and SL28 varieties, as well as 7 hectares at Faenda Baixadão and Casa Brás, with African beds and varieties such as Yellow Catuaí, Red Catuaí, Laurina, Geisha, Pacamara, and SL28.
Mineiros passionate about coffee and the Canastra region, they were presented with the chance of working these lands, and today contribute to refining the region’s coffee culture.
The Canastra Mountains are one of those hidden corners of the world where the Minas Gerais essence is preserved. In addition to producing one of the best artisan cheeses in Brazil, it is also where some of the best coffees are grown.
Apart from favorable terroir, the region relies on true artisans of simple, distinct soul, connected to the land, who cultivate coffee with dedication and admiration, in a symbiotic process in which one guards the other’s life.
With new technologies, modern machinery and a new philosophy of growth and commercialization, the coffees produced by these families have entered not just the specialty coffee market, but also the wish lists of great connoisseurs.
They are fields protected by exuberant nature, practically untouched, that help tell the story of these farms, which are preparing to continue producing some of the best coffees in the country.
